WELCOME TO REGION 5!
Hello! My name is Miranda Nelson and I am proudly serving as the 2012-13 Lieutenant Governor of Region Five. I attend Sisseton High School where I will be a sophomore for this upcoming school year. I am a very dedicated, hard-working person. I love to meet new people and help as many as I can; this is one of the many reasons why I wanted to become an LTG. I believe that even the smallest things can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Coming from a family of six, you learn to help out as much as you can. My parents are my biggest role-models. They support me and believe in me 100% with everything that I do. They are always encouraging me to take risks and try new things, which I love. I have three sisters, Heather (18), Hailey (8), and Tara (5). I get a lot of motivation and inspiration from all of them!
This year as a Lieutenant Governor, I would like to get a lot more people involved in Key Club. Most people don’t realize how great Key Club is and how much you can take from it. I feel that if I could inform more people on the greatness of this club, they would love to join; this is my goal for this year. I also want to try getting a builders club started in my school.
My school life is very busy! When I am not doing homework, I am participating in Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Key Club, FBLA, Natural Helpers, Student Council, Concert Choir, Youth Group, and TATU (Teens Against Tobacco Use). Being in as many things as I am can be difficult sometimes but I manage to maintain a 4.0 GPA. When I start something I put my full effort and devotion into it and that is what I plan to do with being a Lieutenant Governor for Key Club.
My Key Club moment happened this year on the way to District Board training in Alexandria. My club advisor is a great lady who also puts her full devotion into everything that she does. She is my transportation to and from Board Trainings because I definitely would get lost! We were so busy talking on the way there that we suddenly realized we had no idea where we were going! My advisor and I stopped and asked for directions two different times to be guided in ways that did not make sense! Eventually we got to our destination though, 30 minutes late! I was panicking so much! I remember thinking I was going to be in SO much trouble! This was my first time there and I was already late, and already going to be in trouble! When I walked through the doors the only person I seen was Chloe Houle (LTG region 3), nobody else had shown up yet either! I guess I wasn’t the only one who got lost sometimes! Haha!
