Introduction: February
Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 11:02AM Hello Key Clubbers! I hope all of you are doing great! For everyone now is the serious time to start thinking about Spring Convention. It is coming up very soon and I really hope that as many will attend from your clubs as possible. There will be a ton of fun and service at this convention. If anyone has any questions about this please call, email, or Facebook me.
I also was just at a District Board meeting from January 27th-29th where our board planned out all of Spring Convention and got updated on everything happening in our district. We wrote the whole schedule out and created fun Forums for Spring Convention.
Another big event that is going to be happening in our Region soon is a Regional Rally that is going to be held at Fargo North. This rally will be focused completely on service for Kids Against Hunger. If anyone attended the same event last year, it will be very similar and a lot of fun. When I have the date finalized I will send out invitations and to all the clubs.
Also if anyone has any articles they want to write and share please email me it, and I will include it in the next newsletter.
Introduction- January
Monday, January 16, 2012 at 1:39PM Hello Key Clubbers! I hope everyone had a great holiday break and a Happy New Year. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to try to get as many people as possible to attend Spring Convention and to fulfill my duties as well as possible. To remind people a bit more about Spring Convention, it is from April 20-22 in Wilmar, MN. It will be ton of fun, and you will get to experience Key Club on new level and start to realize that there is much more than just your own club. If anyone has any questions please call, text, email, or facebook me.
My new number is (701)-552-3361 and anyone can text me. Just make sure that when you do include your name and club. I would love feedback about anything in order to see what you think I am doing well and what I can improve on.
Also if anyone is interested in running for District please talk to me and/or your advisor and we would be able to help you out. It truly is an amazing opportunity that I hope a good candidate takes a hold of.
Once again I hope everyone had a wonderful break, and I hope to be seeing everyone soon at my club visits.
Wooden Roses
Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 3:57PM We have now received our wooden roses, so if your club would like any please email me asap, and I will bring the roses to you on my club visit. We have received many different shades of pink, red, and white colors of roses that your club could use as a valentines fund raiser, or to sell at special occasions. Bring them to your Kiwanis and ask them to buy them! They will be more than willing knowing the cause that it is going for. Once again the roses cost $1 a rose or 12 for $10. You can sell them for more once you receive them to gain a prophet. We are putting the money towards Cystic Fibrosis, but once you sell your share you can do whatever your club wishes with the money. Some good ideas are either donating it back to Cystic Fibrosis or save it for a few of your club members to attend District Convention in the spring. Whatever you do with them just know that they are going to a good cause! Also if you want to order a different color of rose, please ask your president or advisor to contact me asap so that we can order those and get them to your club as fast as possible. If you have any questions please call or email me. Thanks!
Introduction- December
Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 3:55PM Hello Region 2! I hope that everyone had a great Halloween and that all of you went Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF! I know I did and it was a blast!
I hope that all of you have already started considering attending Spring Convention from April 20-22, 2012 in Willmar MN. We want to get as many attendees as possible to represent our Region and show our Key Club spirit. Our Regional name this year is Clever Craniums based off of the board game Cranium. Each Region has its own name based off of our games theme. Our slogan for our theme is “Key club is our name, service is our game.” We will also be doing a district wide Twister tournament, a dance, and many other fun activities, so please highly consider attending! If anyone has any questions on how you can fundraise for this event please ask me. You can do projects like working concessions or selling roses. My goal is to try to get at least one person to come from each club in our Region. I will also be talking more about this when I visit everyone’s clubs, so please be getting me your clubs upcoming schedules in these next couple months.
Also another reminder goes out to everyone to PAY YOUR DUES! I believe that most of you have accomplished this, but if you have not them please do so very soon. I don’t want any of our clubs going to an inactive state throughout this year. Also if you are lacking members consider having a membership drive. Some ideas for this are to create a sign up in the lunch room and have kids sign up during their lunch, put notices of upcoming meetings on the announcements, and add something extra to the meeting like having popcorn or ice cream. Set a realistic goal for your club’s number of members and go for it. Thank you and I hope to see all of you soon. Jake Stibbe, LTG Region 2
Y.O.F (Youth Opportunities Fund)
Monday, November 14, 2011 at 7:12PM The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation.
This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships.
YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify the things that need to get done in your school, community or world. Key Clubs have applied for grant funds to support many varied service projects.
YOF grants are only given to Key Clubs and/ or club members. There is only one funding cycle for the youth opportunities fund. The application must be received by October 15 each year. Clubs may request funding assistance from $100 to $2,000.

FLEE Recap
Friday, October 7, 2011 at 7:12PM This year our region had its first annual FLEE. FLEE, standing for Fall Leadership Educational Event, is a replacement for Fall Rally which our district implemented in order to cut down cost and travel and to strengthen everyone’s own Region as a whole. The Region 2 FLEE took place on September 10th, 2011, at Fargo North High School. There were a total of seven schools in attendance, along with a few Kiwanis and Circle K members. After getting off to a bit of a bumpy start, the day just kept getting better and better. We all made many new friends and our region really got acquainted. We played many fun games, learned about Key Club, and got a lot of good food. In conclusion I would say that it was a very big success, and that it will be a fun thing to look forward to for Key Clubbers annually. At the FLEE we also gave out some awards. The awards were:
- · Club of the Month- Hillcrest
- · Most spirit (who gets to keep the annual spirit stick for this year): Moorhead
- · Best service project poster- Shanley
All these clubs and every other club in attendance showed great leadership and enthusiasm. I hope that next year we can get even more people to come and have another awesome FLEE!
Introduction- October
Friday, October 7, 2011 at 7:11PM Hello Key Clubbers. I hope you all have enjoyed your first month of school! I would like to first of all thank everyone who attended the FLEE in September. It was a lot of fun and our region really got connected through this experience. I hope that our region will stay connected over this year so that we can grow as a district and community of Key Clubbers. I would also like to start to being more connected again. I do have to admit I have been very busy lately so it has been hard for me to keep up, but I am getting back on track now and am going to be getting in contact with all the clubs again. Here are my goals to keep up with for this next month:
- · Call all clubs at least twice to get updated
- · Create a weekly update page for presidents so we know what’s going on in our region
- · Create a regional facebook page in order to stay connected
- · To try to go to a few club’s meetings in our region
In order to accomplish these goals I will need your help to keep me updated on what everyone has been up to. I would also like clubs to type up articles and send them to me at jake.stibbe@gmail.com. I will these articles in next month’s newsletter. You can write them about anything, maybe a club project or interesting Key Club facts! If anyone has any questions or just wants to talk to me about Key Club, call or email me! Thanks!
Introduction- September
Friday, October 7, 2011 at 7:08PM Hey everyone! Now that school has started it’s time to start thinking about everything again, including homework, sports, and KEY CLUB! This is going to be an awesome Key Club year ahead of us. There will be lots to do and service to be accomplished. This upcoming weekend, September 10th and 11th, starts out our year with the first annual FLEE. I hope that almost all clubs can make it so that everyone can get a start on this Key Club year, and gain needed knowledge in order for officers to do their jobs correctly. If you have not registered for that please do, and send it in to the address on the registration form right away. If you have a very late registration form email it to me filled out at jake.stibbe@gmail.com and bring your check to the event, and I bet we could make it work. Once again, try to find at least one person in your club to go, especially a president. This event is very important. For other news, start planning out when your meetings are going to be and sending those dates and times to me because I want to try to make it to everyone’s meetings this fall and possibly go twice to some of your club’s in the winter. If you or anyone else in your club has anymore questions for me just email or call me with the contacts on page 4. Thanks!
Contact Information
Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:44AM Thank you to all the clubs who have submitted their contact information to me. I have been working hard trying to get everyone’s information, and it is very nice when people do cooperate with me.
I have a majority of my club’s contact information by now, but here is a list of schools that I do not have their contact info yet: (some clubs do not have it in because they have not elected their board.)
- · South High
- · Grafton
- · Jefferson
- · Detroit Lakes
If your school is on this list and I have been trying to get your contact information, please work with me to get that asap. If you are on this list but have not picked your officers yet, make sure you do your elections very soon after schools begins and get you contact information to me almost directly after the elections. Thanks!
