Holiday Projects
Monday, November 14, 2011 at 7:16PM It is getting close to the holidays so here are some ideas for what to do:
- · Sing carols at a nursing home
- · Hold a toy drive
- · Adopt a family
- · Mitten tree
- · Salvation Amry bell ringing
- · Food drive
- · Holiday cards for senior citizens
- · Insert your own ideas
A project that I really enjoy doing is santa calling. My club partners with the rec department. First letters are sent home with kids from school and parents fill them out. They include things that santa would know like sibblings, pets, have they been behaving and such. The form also includes phone number. Then on a night that was specified to parents we call the children and pretend to be santa. The kids really like it and it is a fun project. If you are interested and have questions please contact me.

Happy Fall!
Friday, October 7, 2011 at 7:18PM October is a great month to raise money for UNICEF. Go out and collect money instead of candy on Halloween. Lots of people will the glad to help out and get rid of their spare change. Feel free to dress up and have a lot of fun. Make sure to be safe while trick or treating, I’m sure you have all heard that before but I’m telling you again anyway. If you have done this before I hope you continue and if not it is a great project to take up. To participate in this event you will probably want official UNICEF boxes. To get these go online to http://youth.unicefusa.org/trickortreat/participate/ or call 1-800-FOR-KIDS and order some boxes. If you have participated before you will automatically be sent more for this year. On this site there are more ideas to raise money including a costume party and a fundraising page. There are many great tools, links, and recourses on this site. I encourage everyone to check out the site and to participate in treat or treat for UNICEF. Remember the money raised goes to the Eliminate project, which saves the lives of children.
Back to School
Friday, October 7, 2011 at 7:16PM Now is the time to start thinking about dues. School has started and hopefully you have some new members. So you should pay dues now. The deadline for dues is November 1st for early bird and December 1st for all dues. District and International dues are $11. If a club wants to charge a few dollars extra to use for their own club this is exceptable. For anyone who is new and doesn’t now how to submit dues go to www.keyclub.org. On the top will be a link that says dues and reports. Click, then click on Membership update center and use the user name and password that was sent to your school. If you are unable to login, please contact Kiwanis Member Services at 1-800-KIWANIS, ext. 411

Governor's Project
Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:50AM Everyone should be participating in the governors project. Upcoming is the cystic fibrosis walk in Duluth. The walk will be on September 17, 2011 at Lake Walk Surgery Center. The walk registration is at 9:00am with the walk starting at 10:00am. The walk will be 3m in length. For some of you this is right in near you and I strongly incurage you to attend. Others of you it is only a little over an hour and is a great chance if you can make it. For many of you this is quite a ways to travel so you may want to consider other ways to support the governors project. To register for the walk go to http://greatstrides.cff.org. For more information on other way to raise funds use the same website. For more information about cystic fibrosis go to www.cff.org or contact the governor herself.
Regional Rally
Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:49AM The date has been set! The rally will be held on October 1st, which is the first Saturday of the month. The rally will take place from 9am until 4pm. The location is Mt. Itasca in Coleraine, MN. I felt that the location was fairly central and it is convienient for planning purposes. The cost is $20 per person, which includes lunch, materials, and something to take home. (Most likely a T-shirt but I am still working on that). Some things to look forward to a rally are meeting new key club members from the area, this will help if you want to participate in any interclub activities; officer training and presidents council meeting; a service project; games; and of course fun, fun, fun. Everyone is incuraged to come, new members and old. Officers this is a great chance to get some tips and tricks for your postion. Don’t miss out registration is due Friday, September 16th to secure a spot.

International Convention
Friday, June 10, 2011 at 2:00PM Hope you are ready for Icon. If you are attending I can’t wait to see you there. If you are not attending watch the newsletter for a recap and look forward to going to regional and district conventions. Everyone attending should already have received an e-mail with some information but just in case you didn’t here is what you nedd to know. First Mrs.T will send you an invitation to join dropbox. This allows you to receive important documents regarding Icon. Next you should also receive an invite for Beluga. This is a service that allows everyone to communicate at once. It can either be used for texting or e-mail it is up to you. What I know so far is that bags cost about $22 each way. Also the group will meet at the group check-in at 9:15am on the 27th of June at the Minneapolis airport. Thats all for now. Watch Dropbox and Beluga for updates.
Stay Active in the Summer
