What you should be up to!
Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 10:59AM Here's what your club should be doing this spring:
1. Hold club officer elections. Hold nominations and elect next year's officers so that they can prepare for their new position. Also, encourage new officers to come to Spring Convention so they can attend officer training forums!
2. Send me updated contact information. Once you have elected your new officers, send me their contact information so I can give it to the upcoming Lieutenant Governor. This will make things much easier for them!
3. Register for Spring Convention. Get as many members of your club as you can to come to Spring Convention. You'll all leave with a lot of great information to make your club even better!
4. Fund-raise for Spring Convention. The cost of convention this year is $160, so start thinking now about how your club can fund-raise.
5. Get ready for Spring Convention contests. There are many great contests that your club can enter at convention. If you win, your entry could go on to an International Contest! There will be more detailed information about the contests in the Spring Mailing that should be arriving soon!
6. Run for District Office. Now is the time to think about running for District Office. You will get to meet lots of great Key Clubbers, attend fun training sessions and board meetings, and make some insanely hilarious videos! Again, there will be more information about the district board positions in the spring mailing.
What I've been up to! -February
Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 10:58AM I've been pretty busy lately both with Key Club activities and with other things I'm involved with. As far as Key Club goes, I've been trying to get in contact with as many of you as possible. Thank you so much to those of you who have given me your contact information! The last weekend in January I met with the rest of the District Board to plan this year's Spring Convention.
I'm super excited for all the great things we'll be doing that weekend! Read more about the amazing time you'll have at Spring Convention on page 3 and in the Spring Mailing that should be mailed to your clubs soon.
I've also been helping my club with an upcoming project, the Polar Plunge. It's a fund-raising event for Special Olympics, and I'm really excited because we're trying to get the whole school involved!
Outside of Key Club, I've been very busy with school and music. I'm a senior so I'm in the middle of the college decision making process. It's pretty stressful sometimes, but I know it will all be worth it! I'm also auditioning on the piano and violin at the various colleges I've applied to, hoping that they'll give me a good scholarship and let me major in music at their school!
Checklist for January
Monday, January 16, 2012 at 1:37PM Although the winter months may seem slow and long, we Key Clubbers have a lot to do! Here are some of the things your club should be thinking about this winter:
Dues! I have attached a note to this newsletter for the clubs that have not paid their dues. Please do that ASAP!
Elections! Club officer elections should be held in February, so start talking to your club members about the different positions and taking nominations.
Convention! Convention is coming soon! Start thinking about fund-raising so that your whole club can be there! Also start thinking about the contests that are held at convention and which ones your club wants to participate in.

Introduction- December
Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 3:50PM Hello Region 5!
My name is Claire Dill, and I am your new liaison! I am eighteen and a senior at Henry Sibley High School in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. I have been in Key Club since 9th grade, and it has been a great way for me to get involved in my school and to learn more leadership skills. My favorite projects have been our annual Homeless Sleep-out, Adopting a Family for Christmas, and packing meals at Feed My Starving Children. I have had many memorable experiences in Key Club, but my best memories have been made at District Conventions! I love being able to meet Key Clubbers from across the district and to hear about ways to get more involved in our homes, schools, and communities!
Besides Key Club, I am involved in my school's choir and orchestra, as well as a co-curricular orchestra called Fiddles and Friends. I am also in NHS and 4-H, and am involved with my church Youth Group. When I'm not doing homework, the majority of my time is spent practicing piano or violin, since I hope to be a music teacher when I grow up!
I also spend a lot of time with my family. I am the middle child in a family of seven. My oldest sister, Meg, is married and has two little girls: Maria (2) and Hanna (3 wks.). My older brother Ben is out of college and is my unofficial tutor! My brother Joe is in 7th grade, and Rose is in 5th grade. This year my family also has a foreign exchanged student from Turkey! We enjoy singing and playing our instruments together, taking trips to visit my sister in Illinois, and playing games together!
KCON Recap
Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:52AM Hey everyone! This year’s Kcon was great! We had so much fun hanging out with all of our fellow kiwanians that we were sad to see them leave!:( I hope everyone has had a great summer and is excited for school to start!!! I sure am!! But even though school is going to start that doesn’t mean that our enthusiasm needs to stop! We can still do things like fundraisers for our major emphasis!
District/Regional Theme
Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 6:04PM Though there were many suggestions brought up about what this year’s theme should be but we finally narrowed it down to one theme. This year’s theme will be “service is our game”. This theme gives us many possibilities for ideas that can be incorporated on the club level. Which brings me to the regional name, the regional name for the 2011-2012 will be……… THE TERRIFIC TWISTERS!! I feel that we are going to have a great year and I am so glad to serve you as your region 5 liaison!
Introduction
Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 6:03PM Hey everyone! My name is Zach Krieg. I will be your liaison for region 5. Some of the things that I hope to do this year are keeping in contact with all of the key clubs in my region, make sure all of my regions get all of the information that my club need to have a successful and outstanding year. Also I want to take a moment to announce this very special new change in this upcoming year! This year we changed it up a little, we decided to have regional events instead of one big fall rally. Our regional event will be august 5th and it will include officer training and tons more fun!
