A governor's project is a charity or cause they want to focus on during their term. It's a project they are encouraged to carry on throughout the year to donate money or help in some way. It's an organization outside of our perferred charities, which gives them many choices to choose from. Every governor in each district is different.
This year the project chosen by Kacie, our governor, is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Donations help the AFSP fund to save lives and give hope to those affected by suicide.
Besides just donating, we can take action. We can hold walkathons and help spread the awareness. Bringing the topic to school and start donations there. There are also opportunities to get trained to help others. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. Every year 44,193 Americans die by suicide, but we can work together to prevent it.
