The Kiwanis Family

Kiwanis was founded in 1915. Since then, we have lots of branches, with different types of age groups.

In 1998 K-KIDS was found (elementary): K-kids work together to better their school and community, find opportunities to work together, develop leadership potential, fostering the development of strong moral character, and encouraging loyalty to the school, community, and nation.

In 1975 the builders club was found (middle school): They are a student-led community service organization that operates under school regulations with over 46,000 members worldwide. They are chartered Kiwanis Club, but can be sponsored by Key Club and Circle K. Their motto is "Building Leaders".

In 1951 Circle K International was found (college): They’re the premiere college and university community service, leadership development, and friendship organization in the world. Circle K is a self-governing organization. They’re sponsored by Kiwanis Club on a college/university campus. Their motto "Live to Serve, Love to Serve."

In 2000 the Aktion Club was found (adults with disabilities): This allows adults with disabilities to give/ get involved with their community. They want to provide adults living with disabilities an opportunity to develop leadership skills and to provide service to their communities. Their motto is "Where development has no disability."

In 1915 Kiwanis Club was found (adults): This is where it all started. Kiwanis is an organization of service clubs headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are made up of approximately 8,600 clubs in 96 countries and have over 586,000 adult members. They contribute greatly to the success of Key Club and other Service Leadership Partners, as they sponsor all the smaller branches of the Kiwanis Family.
