Officer Training

Officer Training

Hello Club Presidents,

So what is club officer training? Well, it’s quite simple! Club officer training is training that you conduct for all officers on your board so they can perform their duties effectively throughout the year. This might include individual training for each officer (president, VP, secretary, webmaster, historian, treasurer, publicist, or general member) and full club board training on how to work effectively as a team. Your club officer training should include:

  • Clear, formal description of each position and the role each officer has pertaining to their club’s function

  • The duties and responsibilities of each officer

  • Deadlines on individual tasks

  • Expectation and code of conduct

  • Contact information exchange (all club board members along with your LTG’s)

Now you’re probably wondering with the recent events of COVID-19, how you’re supposed to conduct training over the summer? There are many ways you can run a club officer training. You could have your training virtual or in-person(but maintaining a distance of 6 ft) but keep in mind that this decision should be collaborative and open-minded of all individuals on your board. Regardless of what you decide, you must share the same information!

If you do decide on virtual training, then there are a variety of options available (Zoom, Google Meets, Skype, FaceTime, etc.) However, if decided in-person please maintain social distancing and be safe when conducting the meeting!

If you are interested in finding more resources or questions on how to better plan your officer training, please contact your LTG or look at the MinnDak website under the tab {resources}.
