Trick or Treat for UNICEF

Trick or Treat for UNICEF

When you think of Halloween, you’re likely reminded of putting up spooky decorations, handing out tasty treats, and, of course, going trick-or-treating. We’ve all gone door-to-door and asked for candy, but have you ever asked for charity?

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is a fundraising program for children that is hosted annually by UNICEF on October 31st. The event began 69 years ago as a way to help kids affected by World War II. Since then, millions of children across the United States have gone door to door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out, “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!” The annual tradition of Kids Helping Kids® - involving donations big and small - has helped to raise more than $175 million since 1950. This money has gone directly towards helping children all around the world- helping with immunizations, education, health care, nutrition, safe water and sanitation, emergency relief, and more!

Trick-or-treating for UNICEF is an easy way to get involved with and fundraise for one of Key Club International’s preferred charities, and it also presents a great opportunity to educate others on UNICEF’s mission! If you do end up going trick-or-treating for UNICEF this year, please remember to do so safely! Some things that you can do are wear gloves and a mask while out, use coin jars/envelopes instead of a traditional collection box (to minimize touch), and using hand sanitizer after every interaction!
