Running for the District Board

How can you join the board?

The Process

Becoming a board member takes some work! Firstly, alert your LTG sometime between January and DCON that you are interested in running for the position. Although it isn't required to become a member, you should go to DCON to be elected as that is the preferred and typical channel used when taking on a district leadership position. Before DCON you will likely be asked to send a biosketch, your LTG can send you examples! When arriving at DCON you'll be asked to give a speech that lasts roughly two minutes in front of your division. You will be voted on and, if you win the election, sworn in at DCON later on.

You can also run for an executive position at DCON but the likelihood of winning the election against a LTG is highly unlikely, therefore it is highly irregular to do so. While being a LTG is a large workload, an executive position is even larger. When running for LTG or Executive, recognize the workload you're agreeing to take on! If there is a vacancy mid-term and you're interested in holding said position, tell your LTG and they'll help you get in contact with the board and go through the process of a late election.
